Mounds of books are discharged in a recycling plant in an inexorable process of destruction echoing the deafening noise from industrial clamour. The soundtrack, produced using nearly a thousand samples primarily recorded in situ, the outrageous size of the images, the fragmented and constantly shifting views, pull the audience into a dizzying spin into the massive destruction of knowledge. Oscillating between gripping historical references and examination of the environmental impact of our modes of production, AD NAUSEAM reflects Man’s capacity for self-destruction. Captured by the flux and monumental nature of the images, the viewer cannot take in the entire scene and distance himself from it.

Dans une usine de recyclage, les monceaux de livres déversés dans un processus inexorable de destruction répondent aux fracas de bruits industriels assourdissants. La trame sonore fabriquée à partir de près de mille « samples » enregistrés principalement dans l’usine, l’échelle démesurée des images, leur fractionnement et les changements de plans imprévisibles entraînent le spectateur dans une spirale vertigineuse conduisant à l’extermination massive du savoir. Entre références historiques saisissantes et interrogation sur l’impact environnemental de nos modes de production, AD NAUSEAM est le reflet de la capacité d’autodestruction de l’Humanité. Pris dans le flot et la monumentalité des images, le regardeur ne peut embrasser la totalité de la scène et s’en distancier.
